High Plains Purse-Suit 5k Time

Official time = 42.25 minutes
That's a 14 minute mile. . . pretty dang slow-moving,
but at least we finished it.
Just wanted to officially record here for, again, historical purposes.

Another 5k

We ran another 5k. It was called the High Plains Purse-Suit 5K/10K put on by the Women's Leadership Council, part of the United Way I believe. Anyhoo, the funds go towards dressing less fortunate women in suits to help them obtain better jobs hence the play-on-words in the name of the race: Purse-Suite (Pursuit). I thought that was pretty cool. I still didn't run the entire race but I did run 10 times better this time than in November. I am in better shape. I am more conditioned. I still feel bad for holding J back from his race, but he says what fun would it be running it if he weren't running it with me. What a doll! Love him for that. I was so slow that he was actually running the course backwards and taking pictures! One volunteer thought he was running the entire race this way! He probably could have still beat me back. Oh and my stupid shoes kept coming untied. I didn't "get" why. We will get our official times soon, but for now, here are a couple of pictures of me dying. Enjoy.

At least I am ahead of the "walkers"

Still chuggin' along

This hill was very challenging and only 1/2 way thru the course.

We hope they hold this race next year. This was the inaugural race, so hopefully if not next year, then in 5 years from now I can possibly run the entire way. I am pleased that I just finished.

Nothing Major

It's a viral infection in my ear. Pretty much nothing I can do about it but wait it out. Thankfully, it's nothing serious or continuous. :) Thanks for listening.

On a side note, I am bummed because I am not going to work out this week. But I think the hiatus is probably a good idear.

An Unbalanced Libra

I am having some troubles with my equilibruim. Started when I woke up on Saturday. Didn't think anything of it. Way worse this morning. I am fine now. May be an inner ear problem. This is quite a konundrum (sp?). Vertigo pretty much sucks.

Go AVS!

The Colorado Avalanche just beat the Detroit Deadwings. . .uh, I mean Redwindgs 6 to 5 in an exciting shootout! Way to go Leopold! I really thought Hejduk would seal the deal, but they went to the end with the kid!

Sorry to all my Michigander Turkey relatives in and around Adrian, MI!

Too bad. . so sad for you! Tee hee!

So nice to be watching the hockey again now that we have a big screen t.v. and cable. ((grin)) Boy, have I missed the hockey!

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Good day! I hope everyone is having a great time so far. J & I woke up at 6:30 a.m., drove down to Greeley Colo to run our 1st annual tradition of running a race on Thanksgiving. We had a good time. We ran the 2k but wished we would have run the 5k (even if we had to alternate walking & running). The weather was gorgeous and perfect for running. No wind and not too cold, once you got moving, at just above freezing 36°F.

Here are some pictures to capture the moment:

Before picture K getting psyched up:

The crowd. There were 2,016 participants this year:

After picture not much more than 10 minutes after we started:

This was really fun for us. We are planning to do one next year as well. We also are looking at running a real 5k for Christmas weather permitting!

Have a nice day and don't eat too much. . .you'll regret it!!! :)

And I Ran

J woke me up at 6:30 a.m. today to do our training. I reluctantly dragged my sorry butt out of bed, dressed appropriately, headed outside in the brisk air and propelled my jiggly body forward into a slow jog/wog down to the park. J, on the other hand, like a gazelle makes running any distance look effortless and beautiful. Basically, I kept "running" because when I stopped to walk, I would just get too chilled and I just wanted to get back home sooner to have a cup o' joe. Happy to say I jogged/wogged longer and farther today than normal. The cold air killed my lungs, BUT I did the entire run all without that normal "I'm-going-to-puke-and-hyperventilate-in-the-first-mile" feeling. J says I'm getting conditioned. Finally! Just can't wait to run (read: jog/wog) a full mile without stopping . . .that would make me feel like I've accomplished something at least. We're registering for our first race on Thanksgiving. It's the Turkey Trot down in Greeley. It's a 2k (how lame is that?) but I guess we have to start somewhere. From there our next goal will be a 5k, 10k so on and so forth. My ultimate goal is to run a HALF marathon by my 40th birthday in October 0f 2009. J has it in the bag, but please please wish me luck and send happy/good/successful running vibes my way. Thanking you in advance. :)
